Sarah Bob

THEN: Sarah is a trailblazing piano soloist and chamber musician. She is a longtime member of the Radius Ensemble and is the founder and director of the New Gallery Concert Series, a series that combines new music and new visual art. She is also the mother of two and a teacher. Needless to say, she kept busy.

NOW: Like nearly all musicians, everything came to a screeching halt for Sarah on March 10. She writes, “It was initially gutting, this forced self-identity reckoning. Still is. Beyond not performing, any practice time with two young children at home with us all day, every day, qualifies as a good day. I still wake up every morning with great anxiety but I am learning to accept unknowingness“.

HOPE: Sarah is an optimist and a risk taker, two traits that are helping her persevere through the pandemic. She writes “As someone who also runs a non-profit music and visual art series where community and collaboration are key, I am learning the valuable lesson that our responsibility as presenters and performers is less about re-creating the live concert experience (impossible!) and more about maintaining community and highlighting our togetherness, vulnerability, and accessing our true artistic selves despite it all.”
