Corrine Byrne Grant
Help NEMRF Support Corrine Byrne’s Recovery
Boston-based soprano Corrine Byrne is a regular with Emmanuel Music, Lorelei Ensemble, and co-founder of Ensemble Musica Humana and the Byrne:Kozar:Duo. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras across New England and beyond, and teaches at the Longy School of Music and Harvard University.
In August, Corrine was diagnosed with breast cancer—Extensive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma— and underwent a double mastectomy. Her recovery will be long and difficult, most likely followed by radiation, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy. Treatment will prevent her from working for an extended period of time, causing severe financial strain. Even more devastating, chemotherapy and hormone therapy may permanently affect her vocal cords—threatening her livelihood and identity as a singer.
Corrine and her husband, Boston-area trumpeter Andrew Kozar, are raising two young sons (ages 2 and 4), one with a complex life-threatening medical condition. Andrew has had to cut back his own performing and teaching work to care for their family.
At NEMRF, we are dedicated to supporting professional musicians in need. We have established an emergency grant to help Corrine Byrne and her family. Your donation will help cover lost wages, medical expenses, child care, and essential living costs. In addition, gifts to NEMRF’s general fund—and covering online processing fees—strengthen our safety net for all New England musicians who rely on us.
We are grateful to YOU!
Your donation is fully tax deductible.
